MMFT, Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy

Hi, I’m Tyler!
I started working in the mental health field because of my own journey with addiction, self-image struggles, and anxiety. I know how difficult it can be to face these challenges, and I also know the importance of support. I couldn’t figure it all out alone—I needed help.
My most important goal, if we work together, is to create a space that is
welcoming, accepting, and supportive of who you truly are—the person you may sometimes feel the need to hide. I want to connect with that part of you because you don’t have to hide. You are worthy of acceptance, care, and connection just as you are.
My approach is rooted in attachment theory, which recognizes that our earliest relationships shape how we see ourselves and connect with others. Sometimes, the signals we receive in these relationships confuse our sense of worth, safety, and trust. We may learn that the way we are isn’t right, that we feel too much, or that our needs are too big. These messages can follow us into adulthood, shaping how we relate to others and ourselves. Healing begins when we challenge these beliefs, create new patterns of connection, and build a secure foundation within ourselves and our relationships. I'm working under the supervision of Dr. Sara Hopkins, LMFT (TN License 928).

Approach to Counseling:
My approach to counseling is rooted in bonding science—the idea that we’re wired for connection, and our relationships shape our well-being. When trust is broken or emotional wounds linger, it can impact how we see ourselves and relate to others. Healing comes from strengthening those bonds and creating secure, meaningful connections.
I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help individuals and couples rebuild trust and deepen relationships. I also use SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) for premarital counseling and have spent two years under the supervision of a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), specializing in addiction recovery and relational healing.
