Stephanie Insko

Ph.D., HSP; Licensed Counseling Psychologist

Stephanie Insko Bio

A seasoned psychologist with 25 years of experience, Stephanie began her career treating students in university counseling centers across the Southeast. Though she still sees older adolescents and young adults, Stephanie now works primarily with those in the middle phase of life who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship/family issues, and grief/loss. Stephanie specializes in treating women in the “sandwich generation” season of life, who are juggling multiple responsibilities: caring for both their aging parents and their own children; tending to their career, marriage, and friendships; and volunteering with their children’s school, sports, or other extracurricular activities. Stephanie’s area of doctoral research provided her with unique preparation to work with this particular population, as she studied the experiences of women who balance family and career. And her years of experience treating a wide variety of both phase-of-life and clinical mental health concerns informs her work with women who are struggling to manage it all.

Stephanie considers it an honor to accompany her clients as they begin the brave process of change. She joins her clients in this part of their life’s journey, as they learn new ways of thinking about or doing things, and develop strategies to reduce symptoms and improve functioning. Stephanie strives to give them the tools necessary to manage life’s stressors without the support of long-term therapy.

Stephanie tailors her work to the needs of each of her clients, choosing the modality of treatment that will be the best fit for them and provide the most efficient and effective outcome. The therapeutic modalities she most commonly uses are cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, developmental, family systems, narrative, and existential.
