Stephanie Insko, Ph.D.

Counseling Psychologist

I believe that as humans we possess both self-insight and the potential for growth. I also believe that we use these traits to change patterns in our lives that are no longer working. But the challenges of our busy lives can make it difficult to implement those changes. I view my role as one in which I accompany people on their journey of change, as they strive to reach their full potential.

My relationships with my clients are collaborative ones in which we work together to achieve goals. I also believe in coordinating treatment with other professionals (medical, physical, spiritual, or otherwise) whose expertise may supplement that work. Above all, I make every effort to ensure that I am treating the person as a whole.

I am humanistic in my relationship with clients; however I use cognitive-behavioral, narrative, existential, and family systems approaches to inform the work that we do. I enjoy working with adults and older adolescents who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and stage-of-life developmental issues, as well as couples with relationship concerns. I also occasionally offer group therapy, and supervision for individuals in the process of becoming licensed psychologists.

I specialize in treating the university population. I studied college student development extensively in both my master’s and doctoral programs and have worked in multiple university counseling centers across the Southeast. I have also worked with adults in outpatient counseling centers and inpatient hospital settings, in addition to private practice.
