Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Erin Fish is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Lifespan) and clinically trained mental health therapist. Given her lifelong interest in mental health and love of working with people, she initially obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree from Vanderbilt University in Human Development Counseling (Clinical Mental Health Counseling track). In her second year master’s level counseling internship at Vanderbilt’s Psychological and Counseling Center (now known as the UCC), Erin actively engaged in treatment planning and care collaboration with psychiatric clinicians and colleagues. While at the PCC, she became fascinated with the concept of a biopsychosocial model of care, and gained a new appreciation for multimodal treatment of mood and psychiatric disorders. Her clinical interest in psychiatry and mental health led Erin to pursue a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, where she specialized in Psychiatry and Mental Health.

As a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Erin has worked in both outpatient and inpatient practice settings, including both community mental health clinics and as well as the acute medical setting. Prior to working with Brentwood Counseling Associates, Erin was a faculty member in the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University, and worked as a clinician on the Adult Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As a provider on the Adult Psychiatric Consultation Service at Vanderbilt, she functioned in a consultant role, working closely with VUMC medical and surgical teams to identify potential/existing patient psychiatric problems and providing recommendations for appropriate treatment interventions.

In her role with Brentwood Counseling Associates, Erin provides the following services:

  • Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Comprehensive Psychiatric Medication Consultation
  • Ongoing Psychiatric Medication Management

Erin has years of experience treating patients with a range of presenting problems, including Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Bipolar Disorder, Bereavement, Workplace trauma/stress, Schizophrenia, Developmental and Psychosocial trauma/stressors.
